What is Pueo?

The company name “Pueo” translates to owl in Hawaiian and is intended to convey company culture – wisdom and guardianship. The pueo is one of the various physical forms assumed by ʻaumākua (ancestor spirits) in Hawaiian culture. In Hawaiian culture ʻaumākua act as guardians to their families, guide, and protect them – not unlike the important role of management consultants to their clients. Often depicted with graduation caps and famed in the classic children’s story “Winnie the Pooh” the owl is an iconic representation of wisdom and knowledge. Critical to Pueo Business Solutions is their reliance upon knowledge gained through study, experience, and application.

Our Story

One evening after working a long day on ‘Ulupalakua Ranch, my grandfather Edward Ka’iaokamalie did not return home, concerning his wife Eva. After still not returning the following day, Eva organized a search party of horsemen to look for her dear husband. After several days, and with no sign of Eddie, the search party concluded that Eddie probably slipped into town and the search party proposed canceling the search. At that moment, Eva saw a pueo circling in the distance … in broad daylight and out of the ordinary. Acknowledging her ‘aumākua, she directed the search party to that location. Sure enough, Eddie lay parched, near death, and pinned under his horse who had suffered a broken leg. The pueo remains our family’s ever-vigilant defender.

While this target market is ideal for Pueo’s assigned business designations, we also seek to diversify work across the Federal and commercial work spaces.

Located in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg, our office is just blocks from the University of Mary Washington, and is also next door to many restaurants and the Train Station.
